Terms of Business
Welcome to Swiss Tutoring.
These are the standard terms of business for tutoring services provided by Swiss Tutoring and our network of qualified tutors.
1. Services Provided
Swiss Tutoring offers bespoke private tutoring services in Mathematics, Science, English, and other academic subjects, tailored to international school curricula including IB, IGCSE, MYP, and other agreed programmes.
Tutoring may be delivered in person or online, depending on the client’s preference, the student’s needs, tutor availability, and prior agreement.
2. Tutor Assignments
Tutors are assigned by Swiss Tutoring based on the student’s individual academic needs, learning style, timetable, and subject requirements.
All tutors are carefully selected, vetted, and briefed to ensure they meet the required academic, professional, and safeguarding standards.
Swiss Tutoring remains the primary point of contact and contractual partner for all tutoring arrangements.
3. Lesson Rates and Payment
The standard rate is CHF 260 per hour for individual tutoring sessions.
A reduced rate of CHF 230 per hour applies when booking a block of 10 or more sessions.
These rates include lesson preparation and reasonable follow-up related to the tutoring session.
Payment is due in advance or upon receipt of invoice, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Invoices are issued monthly or per block.
Payments should be made by bank transfer or another agreed payment method. Swiss Tutoring reserves the right to clarify payment arrangements before services begin.
Swiss Tutoring reserves the right to decline, pause, or discontinue services where payment arrangements are unclear, inappropriate, or inconsistent with Swiss Tutoring’s professional, ethical, or legal standards.
4. Cancellations and Rescheduling
Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are billed in full.
Sessions cancelled with more than 24 hours’ notice may be rescheduled without charge, subject to tutor availability.
Swiss Tutoring and its tutors will make reasonable efforts to accommodate changes to lesson times, but rescheduling cannot always be guaranteed.
5. Communication
All booking arrangements, confirmations, updates, and routine communication may be managed via WhatsApp, email, phone, or another agreed communication method.
It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that messages are received and responded to in a timely manner.
Swiss Tutoring will make reasonable efforts to communicate clearly and promptly regarding scheduling, tutor availability, lesson arrangements, invoices, and any relevant updates.
6. Responsibility
Swiss Tutoring is committed to providing high-quality tutoring and maintaining professional standards.
However, Swiss Tutoring does not guarantee specific academic results, examination grades, school placements, or university admissions outcomes.
Students and parents remain responsible for the student’s academic progress, attendance, engagement, completion of agreed work, and communication with schools or other educational institutions.
Tutoring is intended to support learning and academic development. It is not a substitute for the student’s own effort, school attendance, or formal academic responsibilities.
7. Confidentiality, Privacy and Client Information
All student and client information is treated confidentially.
Swiss Tutoring collects and uses personal information where reasonably necessary to respond to enquiries, arrange tutoring, match students with suitable tutors, deliver lessons, communicate with clients, manage bookings, issue invoices, process payments, maintain records, support safeguarding, and meet professional or legal obligations.
Personal information may include names, contact details, student age or year group, school information, curriculum details, subject requirements, academic goals, learning needs, lesson arrangements, communication records, billing details, and payment information.
Where a parent or guardian provides personal information about a student, they should ensure that the student is aware of this where appropriate, taking into account the student’s age and maturity.
Swiss Tutoring does not sell personal information and does not share personal or academic data with third parties without good reason.
Swiss Tutoring may share relevant information with assigned tutors or subcontracted tutors where necessary for the effective delivery of tutoring services. Swiss Tutoring may also share information with service providers, professional advisers, payment or accounting providers, or relevant authorities where reasonably necessary for business administration, legal compliance, safeguarding, dispute resolution, or the protection of Swiss Tutoring’s legitimate business interests.
Swiss Tutoring aims to collect only the information reasonably needed for the provision and administration of its services.
Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including business, legal, accounting, safeguarding, and record-keeping purposes.
Clients may contact Swiss Tutoring to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information, subject to any legal, professional, safeguarding, or legitimate business reasons for retaining it.
8. Professional Standards and Ethical Practice
Swiss Tutoring is committed to acting with integrity, discretion, and professionalism in all client relationships.
We aim to work with families, students, tutors, and partners in a manner that is respectful, transparent, lawful, and consistent with our educational values.
Swiss Tutoring reserves the right to decline or discontinue services where a proposed arrangement raises serious professional, ethical, safeguarding, legal, or reputational concerns.
Swiss Tutoring will not knowingly participate in dishonest, misleading, unlawful, or inappropriate arrangements, including any request to misrepresent the nature, value, recipient, or purpose of tutoring services.
9. Subcontracted Tutors
In some cases, tutoring may be delivered by trusted subcontractors working under the Swiss Tutoring brand.
These tutors are carefully selected, briefed, and supported to meet Swiss Tutoring’s quality, professional, and safeguarding standards.
Swiss Tutoring remains the sole point of contact and is responsible for contractual matters, even when sessions are conducted by a subcontracted tutor.
Subcontracted tutors are expected to respect confidentiality, professional boundaries, safeguarding expectations, and the educational objectives agreed with the client.
Swiss Tutoring expects subcontracted tutors to report any safeguarding, welfare, or professional concern promptly.
10. Safeguarding and Professional Conduct
Swiss Tutoring is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and professional learning environment for all students.
All tutors working with Swiss Tutoring are expected to behave appropriately, maintain professional boundaries, and act in the best interests of the student at all times.
Swiss Tutoring places particular importance on the careful selection, vetting, briefing, and ongoing professional expectations of tutors.
Tutors, students, parents, guardians, and clients are expected to communicate respectfully and appropriately.
Communication between tutors and students should remain professional and related to tutoring. Where appropriate, parents or guardians should be included in scheduling, lesson updates, and key communications, particularly for younger students.
Tutors should not arrange social contact, transport, gifts, or communication with students outside the agreed tutoring context unless this has been clearly authorised by the parent or guardian and Swiss Tutoring.
Swiss Tutoring does not permit any form of inappropriate physical contact, sexualised communication, grooming behaviour, intimidation, humiliation, discrimination, bullying, or abuse of trust.
Any safeguarding concern should be reported to Swiss Tutoring as soon as possible. This includes concerns raised by a student, parent, tutor, school, or other person involved in the tutoring arrangement.
Swiss Tutoring will take safeguarding concerns seriously and may pause or terminate tutoring arrangements while concerns are reviewed. Where appropriate, Swiss Tutoring may seek professional advice or refer concerns to relevant safeguarding, child protection, school, legal, or statutory authorities.
Swiss Tutoring reserves the right to suspend or terminate services where there are concerns relating to inappropriate conduct, safeguarding, harassment, dishonesty, abusive communication, discrimination, bullying, or any behaviour that may place a student, tutor, or Swiss Tutoring at risk.
The safety and wellbeing of the student will always be treated as a priority.
11. Termination of Services
Either the client or Swiss Tutoring may end the tutoring arrangement by giving reasonable notice.
Swiss Tutoring may terminate services immediately where there is non-payment, repeated cancellation, inappropriate conduct, safeguarding concern, dishonesty, unclear or inappropriate payment arrangements, or any other serious professional, legal, ethical, reputational, or safeguarding issue.
Where prepaid lessons remain unused, Swiss Tutoring will review the circumstances and determine whether a refund is appropriate. Refunds will not normally be given for lessons cancelled late, lessons already delivered, or services terminated due to serious misconduct.
12. Legal Framework
Swiss Tutoring operates as a registered sole proprietorship in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.
These Terms of Business are governed by Swiss law.
Place of jurisdiction: Aigle, Switzerland.
13. Acceptance
By booking a session with Swiss Tutoring, the client acknowledges and accepts these Terms of Business.
The client confirms that all information provided to Swiss Tutoring is accurate and complete.
Swiss Tutoring may update these Terms of Business from time to time. The version in force at the time of booking or renewal of services will apply, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
